How the technology works

Hardshells with Mammut DRY Active are typically composed of three layers, joined together to form a laminate. On the outside is the lightweight face fabric with a DWR ↗ (Durable Water Repellent) coating. The centrepiece in the middle is an ultra-breathable membrane. This is what makes your hardshell waterproof, and allows it to efficiently transport sweat to the outside. The backer protects the membrane from chafing and enhances overall comfort.

Hardshells with fewer layers swap out the inner layer. 2-layer hardshells replace it with either a loose mesh or insulation on the inside, while 2.5-layer hardshells add a thin print to protect the membrane, making the style even lighter, more breathable and easier to pack down small.
