Watch: Freedom in the familiar with Nadine Wallner
12/2022
“I prefer to wait at home until there is snow, instead of sitting in a car for hours driving to a glacier.”
Like most, world champion freerider Nadine Wallner is not immune to the desire to ski year-round. The Austrian is, however, increasingly conscious of the immense impact that comes with those decisions. The environmental impact caused by skiing is not primarily driven by what happens in the resort, but rather in the choices we make to get there. As ski seasons become shorter and low-level resorts battle to keep pistes open, the decision of when, where and how to ski has never been so important. In our new series of short films with professional athletes changing the way they adventure in the face of climate change, Wallner shares her approach to year-round adventure to show how a little patience can bring a lot of freedom.Â
