Circularity
We strive to design durable products that can be recycled into something new at the end of their life. In doing so, we transform the linear lifecycle into a circular one.
Circularity aspires to design with recycling in mind and keep products in use for as long as possible, before returning them to the supply chain at the end-of-life. In a circular model, we give the material a second life as something new without creating any waste or using any new material. We believe that circularity is our best way to lower our emissions to reach Net Zero by 2050 at the latest, with the ambition to be net zero by 2030. Because of this, we are invested in developing low-carbon products and a circular business model to include repair, rental and resale to extend our products’ lifespan.
The First Step: Close the Loop
Close the Loop aims to make climbing and mountaineering more sustainable by recycling old climbing ropes and giving them a second life. With help from Protect Our Winters Switzerland, we collect used ropes and recycle the material they contain into new ECONYL® regenerated nylon yarn. Using the regenerated yarn, we are able to produce new t-shirts, saving 67% of CO2 emissions compared to the traditional production with raw materials from oil.
